Compressed imaging with focused light

چکیده
Abstract Compressed sensing applied to optical microscopy enables imaging with a number of measurements below the Nyquist criterion. The illumination basis selected, often unstructured for randomness considerations, influences performance image reconstruction algorithms. Here, we show through modelling based on multimode fiber that an composed series uniformly spaced foci provides improved robustness noise, increased volumetric performance, and greater resilience external perturbation when compared speckle basis. These observations have broad implications computational super-resolution imaging, endo-microscopy, post-processing images acquired any point-scanning system.

Mitochondrial cristae revealed with focused light.
Because of the diffraction resolution barrier, optical microscopes have so far failed in visualizing the mitochondrial cristae, that is, the folds of the inner membrane of this 200 to 400 nm diameter sized tubular organelle. Realizing a approximately 30 nm isotropic subdiffraction resolution in isoSTED fluorescence nanoscopy, we have visualized these essential structures in the mitochondria of ...
متن کاملSparsity based sub-wavelength imaging with partially incoherent light via quadratic compressed sensing
We demonstrate that sub-wavelength optical images borne on partially-spatially-incoherent light can be recovered, from their far-field or from the blurred image, given the prior knowledge that the image is sparse, and only that. The reconstruction method relies on the recently demonstrated sparsity-based sub-wavelength imaging. However, for partially-spatially-incoherent light, the relation bet...
متن کاملFocused fluorescence excitation with time-reversed ultrasonically encoded light and imaging in thick scattering media.
Scattering dominates light propagation in biological tissue, and therefore restricts both resolution and penetration depth in optical imaging within thick tissue. As photons travel into the diffusive regime-typically 1 mm beneath human skin, their trajectories transition from ballistic to diffusive due to increased number of scattering events, which makes it impossible to focus, much less track...
متن کاملCompressed sensing – with applications to medical imaging
Compressed sensing is a new approach for acquiring signals. It captures and represents signals and images at a rate significantly below Nyquist rate. In certain areas like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), it is urgent to reduce the time of the patients’ exposure in the electromagnetic radiation. Compressed sensing breaks the canonical rules and effectively reduces the sampling rate without los...
متن کاملCompressed Sensing SAR Imaging with Multilook Processing
Multilook processing is a widely used speckle reduction approach in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging. Conventionally, it is achieved by incoherently summing of some independent low-resolution images formulated from overlapping subbands of the SAR signal. However, in the context of compressive sensing (CS) SAR imaging, where the samples are collected at sub-Nyquist rate, the data spectrum ...
